Hempfield recCenter offers several certified training programs from the American Red Cross. Classes are available to members and non-members.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Learn how to prevent and respond to water emergencies. Detailed training includes hands-on skills as well as written tests. The certification, which includes first aid, CPR and AED training, is valid for two years and is accepted nationwide.
A skills pre-test is required to take this course.
Participants must attend all classes and successfully complete all skills and written testing. This course contains online components.
Must be 15 years of age before completion of the class–proof of age is required.
A $10.00 administrative fee will be assessed for anyone withdrawing from the course within five days of the start date.

American Red Cross Coaches Safety Training - Full Course
The Coaches Safety Training course provides training in aquatic safety for swim coaches and officials, athletic trainers, athletes participating in aquatic activities and aquatic exercise trainers. This certification is recognized by USA swimming and helps coaches stay current with their requirements while putting safety at the forefront. This course carries a two-year certification that includes CPR. Participants must complete an online portion.
