For the past 20 years, “SAC” has been a household word to Hempfield School District parents. It might be known by the location moniker: LASER (Landisville), FASER (Farmdale), MASER (Mountville), CARE (Centerville), or RASER (Roherstown), but it all spells out quality before- and after-school childcare for Hempfield School District elementary students. Over the years, SAC has served an average of 250 students per year, and its “alumni” could number in the thousands.
For the 20th anniversary of this very successful program, Hempfield Rec is starting a blog for you to post memories about SAC–from participants or parents (even grandparents) to share how SAC has been a part of your life. We hope to see you here often–to comment, and to read what others have posted.
Thanks for posting about this, I would like to read more about this topic.
Your post HEMPFIELD REC SCHOOL AGE CHILDCARE CELEBRATES 20 YEARS « Hempfield Rec Blog was very interesting when I found it over google on Friday by my search for grandparents. I have your blog now in my bookmarks and I visit your blog again, soon. Take care.
Greetings to all! Now that we are almost two months into the school year, we wanted to let you know that SAC is alive and well — with 340 children attending morning and/or afternoon programs in five different elementary buildings. Many of our staff have been with us for at least 5 years, and we even have some with 14-19 years of experience! We just finished our Fire Safety training and are ready to conclude a three-part series on Emotional Intelligence and Assertiveness.
Let me know you are really interested in our topic and I will respond to you.
