The recCenter’s tennis program is a great opportunity for both junior and adult players to improve their skills on the court. The junior tennis training is designed for young players looking to develop their technique and strategy, while the adult tennis clinics offer a chance for players at any level to refine their game.

Both programs are taught by experienced and knowledgeable coaches, and offer a supportive and fun-learning environment for all participants. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your game to the next level, the Rec’s tennis program has something for everyone.

TENNIS COURT RESERVATIONS

Hempfield recCenter offers hourly rates for both indoor and outdoor courts.  A tennis membership is required to reserve a court.  Please include the names of all players when making the reservation.  There is a $10 guest fee for non-members.  Check-in is required at the front desk.  Court cancellations must be made at least 4 hours in advance to avoid being charged.  Courts can be reserved online with your Club Automation account, by calling the front desk, or by using the Hempfield recCenter app. Courts may be booked up to one week in advance.

Reserve COURT TIME

LONG-TERM CONTRACTED COURT TIME

Do you have a group of friends who want to play together regularly?  Contracted tennis time can be used for juniors or adults.  Outdoor tennis contracts are roughly 16 weeks from May through August on the outdoor courts at a rate of $10/hour with indoor backup costing extra if needed.  You may provide your own tennis balls or pay for them as part of the contract fees.    

Indoor tennis contracts start around Labor Day and run for 32 weeks.  Tennis balls are included.  Pricing is based on the indoor rates.   Email your request to to get an available spot.  All contract players must have a tennis membership throughout the entire contracted time. 

Contracts often need substitute players. Email tennis@Hempfieldrec.com if you are available to sub. Specify daytime and/or evening. 

PRIVATE/SEMI-PRIVATE TENNIS LESSONS

For adult private lessons, email Wilson Pipkin at , Dylan Merle at or Tennis Office staff at and an employee will find something to suit your needs.   Include pertinent information to help us pick the right pro for you.  Prices for private lessons are $85/hr to $90/hr depending on the pro.   A 10% guest fee will be added to all non-tennis members having lessons.

Our onsite store is called Court Appeal.  We carry supplies and clothing for tennis, pickleball, swimming, and fitness, as well as Hempfield recCenter apparel.  Court Appeal provides racquet stringing.   We can special order products for you.  To encourage shopping locally, we have a price match guarantee.  We offer demo racquets, so you can try before you buy.

Whether you’re looking for a new racquet, a stylish outfit for your next match, or accessories to help improve your game, the Court Appeal Pro Shop has everything you need to succeed on the court. Need a Racquet or Paddle?

Demo racquet and paddle rentals are available so you can try before you buy!

  • Demo (rental) fee is $10 per racquet or paddle for two days
  • Maximum of two racquets or paddles per customer at a time
  • Racquets and Paddles can be used onsite for a maximum of two hours at no charge
  • Demo fees can be applied towards a new racquet or paddle for up to 30 days (Customer must keep receipt for demo fees and show at time of purchase of racquet or paddle)
  • Demo fees cannot be applied to sale of discounted racquets or paddles
  • Racquets or Paddles not returned within the allotted time will be charged a $10 late fee per day
