Day 5 Recap

The Koser Jewelers Tennis Challenge continued with two highly-competitive singles matches and two close doubles matches in the feature spots. USTA Middle States also hosted Koser Kids Day in the morning with nearly 100 kids (ages 4-14) playing on the tennis court for a 90-minute free tennis clinic.

First seed Xinyu Wang continues to play high-level tennis. Despite a brief hiccup in the second set, she moves on to the semi-finals with a 6-1, 6-7, 6-2 victory. The second three-set singles match featured Americans Caroline Dolehide and wildcard Makenna Jones. Jones continues to upset the competition, taking down the three-seed 7-6, 4-6, 6-4.

Fourth-seed Madison Brengle and eighth-seed Sujeong Jang both dominated, beating their opponents 6-0, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-1 respectively. They are set to face off in the first semi-final match in the morning.

On the doubles side, fourth-seeded duo Olivia Gadeck and Mai Hontama, along with Sophie Chang and Yulia Starodubtseva, won both their matches in straight sets.
