During this PA Mammals Program participants learn about the behaviors, habitats, and conservation needs of different mammals, from common species like deer and squirrels to more elusive animals like bats and river otters. The program aims to foster a deeper appreciation for wildlife, encourage outdoor exploration, and promote environmental stewardship among younger generations.

Fairy Walk in the Woods

Calling all friends of fairies, elves, and woodland creatures! In the enchanted Lake Grubb Woods, not too far away, lives a fairy named Molly, and she wants you to join us on our Fairy Walk Through the Woods on Sunday, June 22th. The program will include a gentle walk and activities. It’s FREE to attend, but registration is required. All ages are welcome and are all invited to join the adventure between 4 – 5 p.m. (drop in) All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Summer Wildflower Walk @ Amos Herr

The Wildflowers Walk around the Historic Amos Herr House will be led by knowledgeable Lancaster County naturalists, the program begins with an introduction to the local flora and fauna, highlighting the beauty and ecological importance of native plants and the animals that rely on them.

Join the Lancaster County Birding Club for a morning viewing the migration of raptors (birds of prey) like hawks, eagles, and falcons. The purpose of a Raptor watch is not only for enjoyment, but mainly to gather data on raptor populations and migration patterns, contributing to ongoing efforts in bird conservation and research.

Owl Prowl & Pellet Dissecting

The PA Owl Prowl and Pellet Dissecting program begins with an educational session on the fascinating world of owls, where participants learn about their nocturnal behaviors, hunting methods, and their important role in the ecosystem. The next part of the program involves dissecting owl pellets, offering a hands-on opportunity to explore the diet of owls by identifying bones and other prey remnants found in the pellets. After this, the group embarks on an exciting owl prowl, a guided walk-through natural habitat, where participants can listen for and, if lucky, spot owls in the wild. This unique combination of learning and exploration creates an unforgettable experience for nature enthusiasts.
