Quick Thinking and Teamwork: Sky and Cindy

At Hempfield recCenter, we pride ourselves on having a dedicated team ready to respond to any situation, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. Today, we want to celebrate two of our outstanding team members, Sky Wagner and Cindy Beaston, who recently received a well-deserved WOW for their exceptional response during a critical incident.

During a Swim Team practice, a swimmer experienced a seizure in the pool. Thanks to the swift and calm actions of assistant coach Derek Fritz, who initiated the rescue, the situation was quickly brought under control. Sky and Cindy then took charge, initiating our Emergency Action Plan (EAP) with precision and professionalism.

After evaluating the situation, Sky and Cindy placed the swimmer in the recovery position to help expel any fluid that had entered their lungs. They kept the swimmer calm, gathered crucial information, and ensured that everyone was performing their roles within the EAP. Thanks to their quick thinking and coordinated efforts, the swimmer was transported to the hospital and released the same day.

We are thrilled to share that the swimmer is now back in the pool, thanks to the exemplary actions of Sky, Cindy, and Derek. We WOW our two guards for their continued professional manner and dedication to the safety of our members. Thank you, Sky and Cindy, for being the everyday heroes we can all look up to!
