Bluebird Box Building
April 3rd, 6pm. at Lake Grubb
This is a free event that includes education on Eastern Bluebirds from the PA Bluebird program and an opportunity to build your own bird boxes ($12 for box material).
Astronomy Program
April 19th, 8:15pm. at Lake Grubb
Participants will have free access to telescopic views of the moon, Orion Nebula, Jupiter, the Pleiades star cluster, and the constellation Leo on this magical evening.
Fairview Park Clean Up
April 26th, 9am-1pm. at Fairview Park
In honor of Earth Week, Hempfield recCenter is looking for volunteers to participate in a community service project cleaning up litter, planting trees, removing brush, and painting at the park. Food is included! Registration can be found on our website.
Triple Crown 5Ks
May 5th, August 24th, and September 21st at Ephrata, Hempfield (Amos Herr Park), and Lititz recCenters
The three recCenters are offering a series of 3 family-friendly 5K races for cash prizes! Ephrata will host the Memorial Day 5K in May, Hempfield will host the Honey Run 5K in August, and Lititz will host the Pretzel Twist 5K in September. A single $65 registration fee covers all three events, and an event shirt is included if you register before May 12th. All are welcome!
Movie Night (Zootopia)
June 14th, dusk, at Silver Spring Park (Columbia)
Pack up the lawn chairs and blankets, and bring your family and friends to a free showing of Disney’s Zootopia.
Tri for Life
June 15th (Youth) & 16th at Hempfield recCenter
Our annual triathlon begins with a 300-meter swim, continues with 16 miles of biking, and concludes with 3 miles of running. We also offer a Super Sprint option if you’re new to triathlons. Many cash prizes will be awarded, so register today! We are also looking for sponsors for this event, so give us a call if you are interested.
PA Insect Exploration and Bioluminescent Fireflies
June 26th, 8:30pm. at Lake Grubb
Learn about the biology and behaviors of fireflies and other summer insects through observation and hands-on activities.
Astronomy Program
August 9th, 8:45pm. at Fairview Park
Enjoy free access to telescopic views of the Perseid meteor shower, constellations such as Sagittarius and Scorpius, star clusters, nebulae, distant galaxies, and more.
