OUR Parks

Did you know the Hempfield recCenter manages and maintains the parks in West Hempfield Township? Our team of dedicated staff work tirelessly to ensure that the parks are clean, safe, and enjoyable for residents and visitors alike.

Many of our programs also take place in our community parks like flag football, summer family movie nights, nature hikes, yoga in the park and more!

2025 Pavilion Reservations start October 1, 2024 

Are you having a family reunion, birthday party, baby shower or any other gathering? If so, we got you COVERED at one of the West Hempfield Township Park Pavilions (Fairview, Ironville, Silver Spring and Lake Grubb Nature Park)! Pavilion reservations will be accepted in person at the front desk of Hempfield recCenter. Call 717-898-3102 for availability. Pavilions are rented on a first come, first serve basis.

LAKE GRUBB

667-669 Hempfield Hill Rd, Columbia, PA 17512

The park is the site of a former iron ore mine. The ore pit has filled with water, creating Lake Grubb. The park is approximately 54 acres in size. The site is heavily wooded, with a hiking trail encircling the lake. Several fishing areas have been developed. Boating, swimming, and pets are not allowed.

Park Hours:

Dawn to dusk, with patrols by local police.

FAIRVIEW PARK

The park is approximately 40 acres in size, including an 18-hole disc golf course. The terrain is gentle, sloping toward a wooded area to the north. The site has a paved parking area, landscaped trees and shrubs, pavilions and athletic fields.

SILVER SPRING PARK

The park is situated on a small level plateau which is open and approximately 11 acres in size. The site has a paved parking area, landscaped trees and shrubs, a pavilion and athletic fields.

Ironville Community Park

IRONVILLE COMMUNITY PARK

711-725 Prospect Rd, Columbia, PA 17512

The park is situated on a level plateau on top of one of the highest points in the township. It is the former location of the Ironville Fire Company. The entire park is approximately 8.8 acres in size. The site has a paved parking area, a pavilion, basketball court, playground equipment, and open areas for athletic games.
