Background & Experience:
I’ve been a personal trainer for 4 years, but I’ve been involved in fitness and exercise much longer. I was a passionate athlete from elementary school to high school. In high school, I started going to the gym, and fitness quickly became a passion. I continued to work out through college, and in 2021, I decided to become a Master Trainer through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA). Since then, I’ve worked with college-aged individuals and adults in their 40s-70s. I help people lose weight, improve strength, endurance, mobility, and flexibility, and cardiovascular health; recover from injuries and surgeries; prepare for surgeries; and improve/manage chronic conditions. One of my main focuses is working with former athletes and busy, 40s+ women to age functionally, prepare for/recover from surgeries or injuries, and improve overall health and quality of life.
Why a career in health & wellness?
I entered the fitness community to improve my health and wellness, but fell into a pit of overtraining and following extreme- and sometimes incorrect or unsafe- nutrition and exercise advice. I looked great, so people constantly asked me for advice or training, but I could feel the damage, and knew my methods weren’t healthy. Wanting to help people in a safe, science-based way, I decided to become an ISSA Certified Master Trainer. Now, I aim to help as many people as I can, especially those who typically feel excluded or overlooked in the fitness industry: older people, people with chronic illness, people with disabilities, etc. That’s why I chose Exercise Therapy as one of my specialty certifications. In addition to my chronic illnesses and past injuries, I have several loved ones who suffer from health issues. It was- and is- important to me to be able to include and guide all people on the path to better health.
What do you do for fun?
I like spending time in nature, playing sports, working out, doing word searches and puzzle games, and reading and writing. My greatest passion, in addition to fitness, is music: listening, playing, composing, studying, and producing.
